27.01.2015 | Jacques Thibaud String Trio | Künstler A thank you to our sponsor

In February 2014, we recorded Cras, Reger and Dohnanyi string trios with Audite and we would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsor for making this possible. Nowadays it is very important to have individuals that support the arts. In the Baroque and Classical periods the arts were often funded by kings, archbishops and such, in recent decades in Europe it has mostly been funded by the government. But nowadays, with huge cuts in the arts budgets everywhere, more and more we need the help of businesses and individuals. The Jacques Thibaud Trio has found this very generously in Brewer Science Inc. Brewer Science was founded over 30 years ago by Dr. Terry Brewer in Rolla, Missouri and has expanded since. Dr. Terry Brewer's discovery of anti-reflective coatings resulted in a revolution in the global microelectronics industry and ushered in today's high-speed, lightweight electronic devices. Under Dr. Brewer's leadership, Brewer Science has grown to be a global leader in developing and manufacturing advanced materials and equipment for the reliable fabrication of cutting-edge microdevices used in electronics such as tablet computers, smartphones, digital cameras, televisions, and LED lighting.Since 2000, The Jacques Thibaud Trio has played annually Steelville, Missouri, supported by Brewer Science. We play our traditional Wine Cellar Concert in the Peaceful Bend Winery, a unique location with a wonderful acoustic. This is one of extremely few live chamber music performances in the area, which makes the event special, both for the audience and us. We are always very warmly received by many locals including many Brewer Science employees. Another thing that makes the event very special for us personally, is that we have always been very free at these events to choose the repertoire we want to play, without having to limit ourselves to what is well-known or "accessible" - this way, we have been able to mix famous master pieces by Mozart and Beethoven with lesser known and/or more demanding composers such as Penderecki and Schoenberg. It is thanks to these experiences that we have come across the wonderful and very unknown string trio by Jean Cras, for example, that we then got to record on this new Audite CD. It has also become a tradition, next to the Wine Cellar Concert, to play a concert at the Brewer Science Headquarters. Dr. Brewer is very interested in the impact of music on his employees - he encourages as many of his employees to come as possible, and moreover, to bring their significant others and children. We always leave plenty of time for questions during this concert, time which is always easily filled. Throughout the rest of the year, Dr. Brewer encourages employees that live abroad (e.g. in Germany) to come to our other concerts. Art is very important in the company, which is quite clear when you walk around - art is all over the walls. Our new CD and the wine cellar concert are just two of many artistic projects and events that Brewer Science sponsors annually. In recognition of the company's numerous contributions to the arts, Dr. Terry Brewer was recently awarded the 2014 Missouri Arts Award for Philanthropy. We cannot thank him and Brewer Science enough for making this big step in our career possible.
