152 jurors from 32 specialist juries have chosen 234 productions (CDs, DVDs and audio books) from new releases of the last quarter and nominated them for the Quarterly Critics' Choice ("Bestenliste") 2/2020 of the German Record Critics' Award (PdSK), which will be issued on May 15th.

Among these is also an audite production: Paul Tortelier: RIAS Recordings was nominated in the category „Historical Recordings".

We are very happy about this appreciation!

The quarterly and annual awards of the German Record Critics' Award (PdSK) are sought-after prices in the German music scene. The winners of the quarterly awards are included in the Quarterly Critics' Choice ("Bestenliste") of the German Record Critics' Award. The lists recommend new releases which merit special attention for the quality of interpretation and for their value to the repertoire. These lists provide a candid picture of new releases which, in the jury's opinion, are of outstanding importance when judged on purely artistic and audiophile grounds.

Neuigkeit Nov 6, 2020 | Sabine Wiedemann News Special Beethoven offer:

Beethoven's trios make up a significant portion of his instrumental music, not least due to the fact that the three so-called "Lichnowsky" Trios of 1795 were his opus 1, representing the official beginning of his oeuvre. With them, Beethoven asserted a comprehensive and unmistakeable artistic aspiration, aiming at a consolidation of symphonic and concertante elements and a compression of the form by planned thematic, rhythmic and harmonic organisation. The juxtaposition of the works on these CDs on the one hand reveals the enormous degree in subjectivisation and creative might which Beethoven had gained during the course of the intervening two decades, and on the other hand brings to mind the numerous significant parallels showing the  extent to which Beethoven detached the piano trio from its original function as  courtly or bourgeois entertainment, awarding it the highest measure of artistic autonomy. The primary five-part audite series of the complete works for piano trio by Beethoven includes also the Trio WoO 38, written in Bonn, as well as the Triple Concerto, Op. 56. In the Beethoven Year, it was supplemented by arrangements of two early masterworks and real rarities: the trio versions of Beethoven's 2nd Symphony and his String Quintet Op. 4, based on his Octet Op. 103 and reworked by the composer himself.
