Informationen
In 1949 Ferenc Fricsay opened a long series of first rate classical music recordings at the Jesus-Christus-Kirche in Berlin with Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony. This venue, a church with a particularly rich acoustic, remained unchanged for decades and audite continues to use it even today, combining its many new productions with archive recordings that were made there. The specific sound of the space is clearly audible, both on tape from 1949 and on the modern computer hard drive; whether it is an LP, CD or SACD: the acoustic space is alive! Not only does it shape the sound but it also serves as a subtle inspiration to the musicians’ interpretations.
Between 1949 and 2008 lies a world of difference: interpretations have changed, the music business works completely differently, not even to mention the development of the recording industry. However, for our work in the studio it is the artistic originality and the authenticity of the interpretations alone that set the standard, whether a tape of Verdi’s Rigoletto from 1950 is being re-mastered or Grieg’s Lyric Pieces are being newly recorded.
Join us in a voyage of discovery – behind the many changes over time it is the personalities of the musicians who move us. This is how – also inspired by the acoustic – artists and interpretations become one, and music touches the soul.
